Ubud may be better known for culture and temples than for waterfalls, but there are a bunch of nice Ubud waterfalls too.
A lot of the best waterfalls in Ubud are located in the nearby Gianyar and Bangli areas of Bali, Indonesia, but most of these can still be reached in less than 30 minutes from the Ubud town center.

Ubud Waterfall Guide
1. Layana Waterfall
This is one of the best waterfalls in Ubud because itโs so easy to visit. Layana is just a 10 minute drive from the Ubud town center.
As an added bonus, thereโs a warung above this Ubud waterfall where you can eat lunch while enjoying the view โ but itโs totally optional, you donโt have to order anything to visit the falls.
Even though Layana isnโt one of the biggest waterfalls in Bali, it wins the award for being the most accessible Ubud waterfall.

2. Tibumana Waterfall
Tibumana used to be a secret waterfall, but itโs exploded in the last couple years and now every Instagrammer comes here. Itโs still worth a visit!
The road to this one winds through some green rice fields and palm trees, so itโs a great scenic drive, and there are a couple of smaller waterfalls you can also see nearby.

3. Taman Sari Waterfall
Just 500 meters from the entrance to Tibumana is a separate path that leads to Taman Sari Waterfall.
Also called the Pengibul Waterfall, itโs a small 2-step cascade with no crowds, and you can reach it in 5-10 minutes of walking, so itโs definitely worth checking out while youโre at Tibumana!

4. Suwat Waterfall
This waterfall is an up-and-coming hidden gem near Gianyar and Ubud. Itโs good for swimming and thereโs even a neat little bamboo raft you can paddle around on.
The hike to Suwat Waterfall is short and easy, and takes you through a small bamboo forest and other tropical foliage along the way. We think itโs one of the nicest Bali waterfalls Ubud has to offer!

5. Goa Rang Reng Waterfall
Watch out for slippery rocks! Goa Rang Reng has 3 different waterfalls, but my favorite is the first one, a big sloped cascade that looks like a natural Slip Nโ Slide.
6. Kanto Lampo Waterfall
Kanto Lampo is a cascade of waterfalls running over the rocks into a natural pool below. As an added bonus, you get to see some unusual rock carvings on the mossy walls nearby.
The water is shallow enough for kids (when we went in August it was knee high), although if you go up the river a bit it gets deeper (chest high). This is definitely one of the best waterfalls in Ubud!

7. Uma Anyar Waterfall
This is a nice multi-layered waterfall that was just opened to the public in 2020.
We were apparently two of the first visitors when we accidentally discovered it on our way to some other falls.
The Uma Anyar Waterfall has a nice upper waterfall where you can take a natural shower, plus a lower cascade on the river where you can swim and relax when the water is calm (but I wouldnโt recommend that in the rainy season).
It has an easily accessible path and itโs located near Ubud, so itโs a great one to visit (GPS here)!

8. Sumampan Waterfall
This is another barely known waterfall near Ubud, where you can escape the crowds.
The Sumampan Waterfall flows directly into the river, and itโs surrounded by jungle vines and contemporary Balinese rock carvings that look ancient.
From the parking area, itโs easy to reach with a short walk through a palm forest, and then down one steep flight of stairs.

9. Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan is the busiest and most touristy waterfall in Bali. Donโt go here to escape the crowds, but itโs still a nice spot for lunch, and chances are youโll be driving past it at some point anyway!
It only takes about 15 minutes to hike down the steps to the waterfall, but the way back up is a good workout with a lot of humidity and uneven stone steps that feel like they were made for giants.
The waterfall is about 30 meters tall, and on a nice day you can do some swimming in the pool below the falls. On a sunny day, you can even see a big rainbow sometimes!

Best Waterfalls Near Ubud
10. Beji Griya Waterfall
Beji Griya is a very unusual temple and waterfall near Ubud that was just opened in 2022, although the carvings near the waterfall give everything the appearance of being much older. Itโs a 30 minute drive west of Ubud.
Be warned that this is one of the most expensive waterfalls (or temples) weโve visited in Bali. They charged us 100k Rupiah per person for the most basic entrance ticket. You can also pay extra to take part in a Balinese Hindu ceremony at the waterfall. We didnโt do that, but we noticed the price was 200k Rupiah per person.
Anyways, the Beji Griya waterfall was nice and we enjoyed the mysterious carvings on the rock walls, which were really well done. I donโt know if weโd come back again, but it was worth at least one visit. Itโs definitely one of the most unique Ubud waterfalls weโve seen!

11. Pengempu Waterfall
This is a small waterfall, but itโs just 30 minutes west of Ubud. Itโs hiding in a sort of semi-cave, just a short 5 minute walk from the parking area.
They may not be the most spectacular falls, but the hike is super easy, no oneโs around, and itโs completely free!
12. Goa Giri Campuhan Waterfall
The Bangli area has lots of great waterfalls and itโs not far from Ubud. Start with Goa Giri Campuhan waterfall, in the north. This one is hidden and you have to sneak through a couple of cool caves to reach it.
13. Tukad Cepung Waterfall
This is a unique looking waterfall hidden at the end of a cave-like ravine.
Tukad Cepung used to be a hidden waterfall, but nowadays it can get extremely crowded, and you may have to wait your turn to take any decent photos.
Itโs still a nice waterfall to visit from Ubud, and Iโve seen some amazing pictures taken here!

14. Goa Raja Waterfall
This is a recently discovered hidden gem just a short distance from Tukad Cepung. The hike is pretty short but the path still needs a bit of work.
Goa Raja is pretty easy to reach from Ubud, and it has a big waterfall inside of a cave, just like the name implies (Goa Raja is Indonesian for โking caveโ).
Thereโs even a small natural pool for swimming. All in all, we actually liked this waterfall better than Tukad Cepung, and of course there were way less tourists.

15. Yeh Bulan Waterfall
Yeh Bulan is a newly accessible waterfall since 2023, and itโs one of the biggest waterfalls near Ubud!
To get to this one, you have to walk down a bunch of concrete stairs, cross a bamboo bridge, and then walk through some ankle deep water in the shallow stream.
At the end of the hike, thereโs a natural pool for swimming, and a big waterfall with several cascades. Itโs so worth it!

16. Manuaba Waterfalls
This is a short trek near Ubud with two nice waterfalls that are still undiscovered by tourism.
The first Manuaba waterfall is smaller, and can be reached in about 10-15 minutes of walking. You have to walk down a long set of concrete stairs, but the path is in good condition. The first waterfall is a bit rough and thereโs nowhere to swim in it.
The second waterfall is nicer and bigger, and can be reached in another 15-20 minutes of trekking. The path to the second waterfall is still unmarked and can be confusing, so you might have to ask locals to point you in the right direction. The second waterfall is worth the short trek, and you can swim there if youโd like.
17. Kuning Waterfall
This is a unique looking waterfall and swimming hole at the bottom of a big ravine in the jungle. Itโs a steep hike down, but you can cool off in the natural pools at the bottom.
18. Leke Leke Waterfall
This one is a bit harder to reach than the others, since itโs a 1 hour drive from Ubud, but that means no crowds!
Leke Leke is a unique looking waterfall near Bedugul. It was a secret until recently, but itโs starting to get more popular.

19. Campuhan Antapan Waterfall
This is a unique looking waterfall very close to Leke Leke. Itโs still a secret, and very easy to reach from the road!

20. Nungnung Waterfall
Nungnung is one of the biggest and most powerful waterfalls in Bali. Itโs a huge waterfall in the jungle, with a ton of mist flying in all directions. Nungnung is just a little bit north of the Leke Leke waterfall.
