Padang Padang Beach (also known as Labuan Sait) is one of the first hidden beaches I remember visiting on my original trip to Bali back in 2017.
The beach is unusual for being accessed via a small passageway in the rocks, but like most beaches in the Uluwatu area, it has nice soft white sand and itโs popular for surfing.
This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!Where To Stay
Padang Padang Beach Bali: What To Expect
Padang Padang is truly a hidden beach.
Unlike some other โhiddenโ beaches, to reach this one you have to squeeze through a narrow path in the rocks and then walk down some steps to get to the beach, which is tucked away at the bottom and enclosed by cliffs.
Itโs not exactly a secret beach anymore, but itโs still a pretty cool spot.
The name Padang Padang means โtall grassโ in the Balinese language, and that name probably comes from the overgrown trees and bushes surrounding the beach.
The stretch of sand at Padang Padang Beach is a bit small compared to some other beaches in Bali, but itโs known for being one of the best surfing spots on the island year round. You can rent surf boards or bring your own.
The beach is usually not crowded in the morning, especially in the off season, and the white sand and turquoise water is pretty nice. I went back last January and there were only 5 or 6 people on the whole beach, but in high season it does get a bit crowded.
Just watch out for monkeys, especially near the entrance, because they might try to steal your hat or sunglasses! Iโve seen them steal food from people here, especially if itโs in a telltale plastic bag.
Entrance Fees
The entry fee is 10k Rupiah (less than one US Dollar) as of 2019. Toilets here are free.
There are surf board rentals and food/drink shacks on the beach too where you can buy snacks or fresh coconuts. Just watch out for monkeys!
How To Get To Padang Padang Beach
Padang Padang beach is located in the Uluwatu area of south Bali.
You can use the map below for navigation. Itโs a 30-45 minute drive from the Kuta area, depending on traffic.

Best Uluwatu Tour Packages
If you want to explore Uluwatu Bali with a tour package, there are lots of great online options available.
GetYourGuide has Uluwatu tours that include scenic beaches, clubs, sunsets, and iconic locations like Uluwatu Temple and the GWK cultural park. They also offer some neat activities like tandem paragliding.
We've used this company for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they're great. Highly recommended!
Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
If you want to explore Bali in the comfort and safety of a private car with an English speaking driver, my top recommendation would be GetYourGuide.
Their price is 650k Rupiah ($45 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. That's the total price for the whole car + driver + petrol! It's a great deal. They also offer affordable hotel transfers from the airport.
If you'd rather travel by motorbike, they have that too. Their scooter rentals start at 140k Rupiah (~$9) and include a helmet, rain coat, and free delivery in the south Bali area.
We've used GetYourGuide for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they're great! Highly recommended.
