Nyang Nyang Beach is one of the bigger white sand beaches in south Bali, with clean blue water and lots of wide open space, plus a photogenic wooden shipwreck.
The walk down and back up is a bit of a killer, but itโs worth it if youโre looking for a nice quiet beach without the crowds!
More recently, a plane was installed at the top of the Nyang Nyang cliff as a photo spot and future hotel, which seems tacky, but at least the beach is still enjoyable.

Where To Stay
Nyang Nyang Beach Bali
Nyang Nyang beach sits at the bottom of a big cliff, and to reach it youโll have to hike down from the parking area above.
That sounds scary, but itโs not at all. The hike takes about 20 minutes on the way down and 30 minutes going back up.
There are a few sections with loose rocks you could slip on, but itโs never anything dangerous at all. We wore sandals and that was fine all the way.
Climbing back up is pretty exhausting and there arenโt always drinks for sale here, so Iโd recommend bringing some water!
Nyang Nyang Beach Shipwreck
Nyang Nyang beach is famous for the shipwreck in the sand, but thatโs technically located at Nunggalan Beach, which is a bit farther.
You can still reach the shipwreck from Nyang Nyang since both beaches are connected, but itโs a long walk in the sand to get there โ more than 2 kilometers (1 mile).
If youโre mainly wanting to see the shipwreck, then go to Nunggalan Beach instead. Itโs much easier to reach from there.
Either way, the Nyang Nyang beach shipwreck is a very cool spot to sit and take pictures for your Instagram. The views in the background are amazing too.
There used to be two Uluwatu shipwrecks here (both fragments from the same boat), but sadly one of the pieces seems to have washed away.
Nyang Nyang Plane
An abandoned Boeing 737-200 airplane was relocated to the edge of Nyang Nyang cliff in 2021 to serve as a photo attraction and future hotel.
Apparently there are plans to turn this Uluwatu plane into some kind of luxury villa, although I kind of hope the idea falls through.
Personally I think itโs tacky and devalues the natural scenery at Nyang Nyang. I liked it best when it was an empty green cliff overlooking the beach.
This just seems to be yet another example of the sad lack of nature conservation in Bali and the rest of Indonesia.
Entrance Fee
FREE as of 2020.
Thereโs no parking fee or entrance fee at Nyang Nyang Beach.
How To Get To Nyang Nyang Beach
Nyang Nyang Beach is located in the Uluwatu area of south Bali.
The best way to get there is to rent a scooter or hire a private car and driver (both of these can be booked online).
Itโs 30-45 minute drive from the Kuta area, depending on traffic.
Thereโs a small parking lot with some food shacks and paragliding shops, and the hike starts from here.
Just follow the narrow path down the road until you reach the beach!
(Side note: if youโre mainly wanting to see the shipwreck, then go to Nunggalan Beach instead. Itโs much easier to reach from there compared to Nyang Nyang.)

Nyang Nyang Beach Camping โ Bubble Hotel
If you want more adventure, there are bubble hotels at Nyang Nyang Beach where you can stay the night!
We havenโt tried this, but it looks fun. Just donโt go expecting a luxury experience, but I still think it would be fun to try for at least one night.
The beach itself is amazing, so it would be a great place to wake up in the morning.
